The RN assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care for a designated group of patients. The RN coordinates, directs and actively participates as an effective member of the interdisciplinary health care team, contributing to the efficient operation of the unit and promoting positive patient outcomes.

  • Pre-ops patient at the appropriate time.
  • Identifies patient, appropriate surgical procedure and surgical site by following the policy for surgical site identification.
  • Positions the patient correctly for each procedure preserving skin integrity. Follows the principles of asepsis, reporting any breaks in aseptic technique and rectifying the situation.
  • May perform laser procedures. May perform procedures involving radiation.
  • Possesses the knowledge of proper instrument and equipment set up for each surgical procedure, coordinating with physician preference.
  • Updates physician preference cards.
  • Assists the surgeon in performing the surgical procedure.
  • Handles specimens appropriately.
  • Performs OR counts accurately and takes appropriate action in response to incorrect counts.
  • Maintains the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the surgical team. May take call for OR on regular basis.
  • Education:

    • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program

    Certification / Licensure / Regulation:

    • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program.
    • Act 73

    Other Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong leadership ability, independent thinking and decision-making ability; analytical problem solving skills, sound judgment; excellent oral and written communication skills, must be able to function in a team environment.
    • A Nursing refresher course may be required if employee hasn t worked in an acute care setting for his / her most recent three consecutive years of professional employment.

    The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
